Lorsque André Masséna, duc de Rivoli, prince d’Essling et maréchal d’Empire acheta le domaine, la (petite) histoire dit que ce fut pour fuir son épouse. C’est ne pas lui rendre honneur car celle-ci native d’Antibes se montra très habile dans la gestion de l’important patrimoine que son mari accumula tout au long de sa carrière.Le Château est sans doute dans la même configuration que celle que connu le grand militaire.
On trouve une trace du Domaine dés la fin du XIVème siècle quand le fief de Tourrettes sur Loup fut inféodé à Guichard de Villeneuve dit le Bâtard de Vence. Devenus marquis, les Villeneuve Tourrettes étaient propriétaires du Château intra-muros au village et du Château du Caire leur héritier Constantin de Châteauneuf vendit ce dernier, petit château rustique sur les hauteurs, à Masséna à la fin du XVIIIème siècle.
La propriété est aujourd’hui à l’état de délaissement mais surveillée, le toit du château vient d’être entièrement refait.
Il s’agit là de l’opportunité très rare de faire revivre un grand et noble domaine du patrimoine Provençal. Sa taille et sa situation de quasi balcon sur la Côte d’Azur en font un investissement solide et pérenne, un projet agricole peut être aussi envisagé. Cette propriété de120 hectares sur un adret, face à la mer avec à ses pied le cap d’Antibes et tout le littoral est unique.

Having become Marquis, the Villeneuve Tourrettes were the owners of the Château within the walled fortification of the village and the Château du Caire which their heir, Constantin de Châteauneuf sold to Masséna at the end of the XVIIIth century, a small rustic château in the uplands.The property is today in a state of neglect but is being watched as the château roof had just been entirely rebuilt.This is quite a rare opportunity to revive a grand and noble estate of Provence heritage.
